PrintAbout Outdoors Victoria
Established in 2013, Outdoors Victoria (OV) is the peak body for the outdoors sector in Victoria.
A not-for-profit, membership organisation, OV provides advocacy, representation, support, coordination, research, information services and policy development for members and other interested parties involved in:
- Outdoor Recreation
- Outdoor Education
- Outdoor Tourism
- Outdoor Therapy
- Outdoor Sport
Supported by an experienced, skills-based Board and specialist advisory committees, OV builds on strength and existing capacity to further develop a sustainable outdoors sector.
This is achieved through:
- Advocacy: influencing government planning and policy decisions; encouraging collaboration within the sector; and maintaining effective strategic relationships and alliances with relevant organisations
- Leadership: providing leadership across the sector by identifying key issues and taking action to ensure the wellbeing of the sector and its stakeholders
- Coordination: driving and supporting a coordinated and integrated approach to the development of the sector and its stakeholders
- Communication: promoting and publicising the benefits of outdoor activities to the community and public agencies; and ensuring members and interested parties are kept well informed about sector issues and initiatives
- Research: fielding research opportunities and commissioning research for the advancement of the sector
Principles
Outdoors Victoria adheres to the following principles:
- Provide a “common voice” and add value across the outdoors sector, without competing with existing bodies
- Maintain a position of advocacy and development of the sector
Mission
As the peak body and advocate for the outdoors sector, Outdoors Victoria will encourage and drive greater participation by the community and public in outdoor experiences.
